**Job Description Summary**As a Lead Network Research Engineer,
you will have the opportunity to design, architect and implement
novel industrial networking solutions. You will lead and contribute
to R&D programs aligned with GE Aerospace as well as with U.S.
government agencies such as DOD and DOE to solve some of the
world's toughest challenges. The technologies developed under these
programs will be matured and transitioned into GE business

work.**Job Description**Roles and Responsibilities+ Work in an
interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to develop
innovative networking solutions for industrial and mission critical
communications.+ Participate in all development stages of R&D
ranging from early concept design and experimentation in the lab to
validating fieldable prototypes and finally transition of new
technology into a commercial product.+ Work with U.S. government
agencies to help shape winning proposals and contribute to research
projects that will create innovative solutions to the world's most
challenging problems.+ Collaborate with universities, industrial
consortiums, commercial partners, and others to advance the state
of the art in industrial networking.+ Participate in IEEE, SAE, ISA
or other relevant standards bodies to help drive connectivity
solutions to support GE Aerospace's business needs.+ Publish
technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open-source
communities.Required Qualifications+ Ph.D. in Computer Engineering
or related disciplines with a minimum of 3 years of industry
related experience OR Master's degree in Computer Engineering or
related disciplines with a minimum of 5 years of industry related
experience OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related
disciplines with a minimum of 8 years of industry related
experience.+ Expertise in wired and wireless networking and
communication protocols.+ Experience in programming languages and
tools such as: C/C++, C#, Python, or QT.+ Experience in programming
and network simulation tools such as: MATLAB/Simulink, NS3,
QualNet, or OPNET.+ Hands-on experience with networking equipment
such as switches, routers, analyzers, and other network test
equipment in a laboratory setting.+ Hands-on experience in the
design and implementation of at least one OSI layer (1 through 4).+
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not

Characteristics+ Experience in Linux kernel, device driver, and/or
network stack software development.+ Knowledge of industrial or
aerospace network communication protocols such as: TSN, ARINC, CAN,
DDS, PROFINET, EtherCAT, etc.+ Deep knowledge of 802.1, 802.3,
and/or 802.11 standards.+ Experience in software defined networks
(SDN) and relevant software such as OpenFlow, Open vSwitch, or
Mininet.+ Strong publication and intellectual property records.+
Experience with writing proposals in response to government
