**Job Description Summary**As a Principal Embedded Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to architect and develop state-of-the-art embedded systems for real-time controls and communication applications in the aerospace, power generation, renewable energy, healthcare, and defense industry. You will lead and contribute to R programs aligned with GE's businesses such as Aviation, Power, Renewables, and Healthcare as well as with U.S. Government Agencies such as DOD, DARPA, DHS, and DOE. The technologies developed under these programs will be matured and transitioned into GE business products.**Job Description****Roles and Responsibilities****Work with GE businesses to help transition real-time embedded controls and communication systems from early stage lab demonstrations to fieldable prototypes.****Design, model, simulate, implement, and optimize real-time critical embedded systems.****Work with hardware suppliers and engineering tool providers to identify and select solutions for challenging industrial and defense applications.****Collaborate with universities, industrial consortiums, commercial partners, and others to advance the state of the art in embedded computing.****Work with U.S. government agencies to shape winning proposals and lead projects that will create innovative solutions to protect the nation's most critical infrastructure.****Publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open source communities.****Required Qualifications****Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 15 years of industry experience OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 20 years of industry experience.****Deep domain knowledge in the areas of edge computing, software architecture, real-time controls, and advanced AI/ML based controls algorithms.****Strong embedded programming skills (e.g., C/C++/C#, Java, Phyton, MATLAB, etc.)****Experience with cloud computing and cloud architectures (e.g., AWS).****Experience with real-time hypervisors (e.g., RTS), containers (e.g., Docker and Kubernetes), and related technologies.****Working knowledge of real-time operating systems (e.g., VxWorks, QNX, RTLinux, etc.).****Experience with Linux build systems (e.g., Yocto, PetaLinux) and Linux driver development.****Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.****Ability to work in teams and across business functions.****Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
