Nurse Practitioner / Inpatient Psychiatry Iowa, Davenport tcr Nurse Practitioner / Inpatient Psychiatry Davenport-Moline-Rock Island, Iowa Now hiring an energetic, compassionate Psychiatric Care Nurse Practitioner for our facility in Iowa! Summary: Under direct supervision of a psychiatrist, provides psychiatric medication services at the site assigned by the CCO/Medical Director. Provides clinical care, assessment, treatment and support services to adult consumers and/or their families, including planning, implementation and documentation. The PNP must be prepared to work with members who are uncooperative, disoriented or aggressive as they assess patients' needs and develop plans of treatment. Uses the nursing process, drawing upon extensive knowledge, experience and research to identify problem situations or issues in patient care; analyses, interprets, advises and consults with staff and other health care professionals to provide high quality, contemporary care. Providing direct psychiatric services through the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment of clients assigned. Provides consultation and guidance to all levels of the nursing staff pertinent to patient care problems within the field of specialty. Make in-house referrals for further therapeutic counseling. Assuring the involvement of families and other persons of the clients choice whenever possible, with the clients consent, in treatment planning. Complete the history of the present illness and review of past histories. Interview patients to obtain insight into their problems. Serving as psychiatric liaison with community care providers, particularly with regard to continuity of patient care. Prescribe and administer medications, assist in consumers medication management in collaboration with the supervising psychiatrist under State Guidelines Collaborate with a psychiatrist to maximize efficiency of psychiatric services Coordinate consumer care regarding access to services, lab tests, case management, primary clinician, outreach services and other agencies Knowledge of psychotropic medication administration and practice. Performs other such duties as assigned within the scope of the position and program description, as well as those reflective of their experience, education and ability. Other related duties as assigned by the CCO/Medical Director. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required Master's Degree in Nursing required Certification / Licensure: Valid State Registered Nursing (RN) license Valid State Nurse Practitioner (NP) license Current Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner certification (ARNP) Valid State Drug Enforcement Administrator (DEA) license Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association Additional technical and professional certifications may be required Experience: 3-5 years experience in a Nurse Practitioner role Psychiatric Care nursing experience preferred Special Skills: Knowledge of organizational policies, legal regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition, and interpreting findings. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Ability to communicate in a clear, understandable manner with patients and family members. Thrives on the challenge of operating in a fast-paced, stressful and ever-changing environment. Organizational skills are essential.
