A skilled Registered Nurse with stepdown or ICU experience is needed for a 13-week contract working night shifts at a well-equipped intermediate care unit in New Berlin, WI. This role requires delivering specialized cardiac and critical care to a diverse patient population in a dynamic hospital setting. The position offers a rewarding opportunity to work across like units with a focus on high-acuity cardiac cases and critical medical conditions. Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with cardiac diagnoses, including open heart surgery recovery, arrhythmias, chest pain, heart failure, acute myocardial infarctions, and post-procedural monitoring. Manage patients with diverse conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, stroke, and medical overflow cases in a 31-bed stepdown unit. Interpret cardiac rhythms accurately and utilize clinical judgment to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient care plans and deliver evidence-based nursing interventions. Float between multiple hospital locations as needed, providing flexibility and expertise to critical care units. Maintain documentation using the Epic electronic health record system within the last 12 months. Adhere to hospital and regulatory standards for patient safety and clinical protocols. Qualifications: Active WI or Compact RN license. Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification. Minimum 1 year cardiac nursing experience with at least 2 years medical-surgical proficiency. Comfort interpreting cardiac rhythms and managing routine cardiac care. Prior travel nursing experience strongly preferred. Ability to manage a patient load of 4-5 per nurse on night shifts. Resilient, adaptable, and able to handle change in a fast-paced environment. COVID-19 vaccination required unless exempt. Schedule: 12-hour night shifts. 36 guaranteed hours weekly. Every other weekend and holiday rotation. No on-call or call back requirements.
