Job Details Position / Job Type: Locum Tenens General Anesthesiologist Specialty: Anesthesiology / Perioperative Care Location: Oneida, NY 13421 — Central New York (near Syracuse; close to Finger Lakes) Start Date: March 31, 2026 End Date: December 31, 2026 Assignment Length: Up to 39 weeks (variable duration possible) Openings: 2 Estimated Weekly Pay: $13,370 – $14,100 Hours per Week: 36 (4 shifts/week) Shift: 12-hour day shifts (04:00 AM – 12:30 PM) Call: Pager call required on weeknights and weekends (negotiable); no in-house call Charting / EMR: Meditech Anesthesia Rooms / ORs: 6 CRNA Supervision: Yes (2:1 or 1:1 CRNA to MD ratio) Privileging Timeframe: Approximately 60 days Credentialing Note: Must cross-credential at affiliated surgery centers prior to start Job Requirements / Qualifications M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited College of Medicine Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology residency Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology Current physician license; candidates who need to obtain a New York medical license will be considered (NY medical license required prior to privileging) Minimum 1 year of clinical anesthesiology experience required Experience with general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, urology, basic pediatrics, and endoscopy cases preferred Experience supervising CRNAs and ability to perform independent cases as needed Comfortable with pager call coverage (weeknights and weekends) Strong perioperative assessment, advanced airway management, regional anesthesia, and intraoperative monitoring skills Responsibilities Provide comprehensive perioperative anesthesia care including pre-anesthesia assessment, anesthetic planning, intraoperative management, and post-anesthesia care Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and obtain informed consent with patients and families Induce, maintain, and manage emergence from anesthesia for surgical and procedural cases across general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, urology, pediatrics, and endoscopy Monitor physiologic status and perform timely clinical interventions to ensure patient safety in the operating room Collaborate closely with surgeons, nursing staff, and perioperative teams to support efficient OR workflow and quality patient outcomes Supervise and coordinate care with CRNAs within the anesthesia care team model and provide oversight as required Accurately document anesthesia care, clinical notes, and billing information in Meditech EMR Assist in directing and coordinating department activities and support department initiatives as needed Why Join This Locum Anesthesiology Job in Oneida, NY Work in a supportive community hospital setting with a diverse surgical case mix Enjoy Central New York living — close to Syracuse and the Finger Lakes for outdoor recreation and local culture Predictable schedule: 4 shifts/week with pager call (no in-house call) Apply now for this locum tenens anesthesiologist position in Oneida, NY.
