Job Description:

Albany Medical Center, a leading healthcare system renowned for medical education, biomedical research, and exceptional patient care, is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse II for our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This position demands a compassionate and detail-oriented individual capable of providing comprehensive post-operative care to patients recovering from anesthesia. The role requires proficiency in monitoring patient vital signs, administering medications, and effectively communicating with both the surgical team and patient families to ensure a safe and expedient recovery process. Monitor patient vital signs and assess levels of pain to ensure effective pain management. Administer post-operative medications as prescribed and monitor for side effects. Assist in the recovery of patients from anesthesia. Communicate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals to discuss patient status. Provide updates and educate family members on patient condition and post-operative care instructions. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Evaluate post-operative orders and clarity any uncertainties with the medical team. Strong ability to monitor and interpret patient vital signs Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in administering medications and understanding their effects Capability to operate PACU-specific medical equipment safely Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
