Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours - Employment Type: Travel Travel RN – Progressive Critical Care (PCU) – Albany, NY Start Date: 12/22 Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Days Shift Times: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM Weekends: Every other Holidays: Rotating Charting System: EPIC (experience required) Unit Overview The Progressive Critical Care Unit cares for high-acuity medical and surgical patients with complex needs. This unit manages some of the most medically fragile and surgically challenging cases in the region. Common Patient Populations & Diagnoses - Respiratory failure - Sepsis - Closed head injuries - Endocrine disorders - Multi-system organ dysfunction - Complex traumas - Surgical complications - High-acuity medical/surgical DRGs Skills & Clinical Requirements RN must be competent in: - Medical & surgical progressive care nursing - ACLS - Advanced hemodynamics, including pressor usage per titration protocols - Antihypertensive drips - Sedation and Narcan drips - Thrombo-embolytics - A-line & CVP management - EVD management - Ortho traction - Infection-prevention protocols - HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, Oxypendent oxygenation modalities Average Patient Load: 3 high-acuity patients Nurses with large-scale adult PCU or community hospital ICU experience perform well on this unit.
