Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Potsdam, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,362 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/23/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 Year Minimum in PCU/IMC License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years. Traveler experience accepted; first-timers acceptable. Locals not accepted (must be over 50 miles). Description: This is a mixed acuity unit caring for patients in Progressive Care. Patients include medical/surgical telemetry and overflow medical diagnosis patients. Ratios are adjusted by acuity levels. Required skills include telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, and managing insulin protocols. Experience in post-myocardial infarction care, IV insulin titration, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, and renal failure management is necessary. Candidates should be familiar with ports access, blood product administration, central line management, and phlebotomy. Skills in starting IVs, heparin protocols, managing cardiac drips, and PCA are important. Knowledge of thrombolytic agents and CVA management, as well as seizure disorders, is required. Experience in orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, and tracheostomy management is preferred. This unit is involved in patient care procedures such as mastectomy and chest tube management. Isolation precautions and wound care are essential in this position. The nursing ratio is typically 1:3-6 for nights and reflects on patient acuity. Floating to corresponding sister units may be required. Expected patient demographic includes adolescents, adults, pediatrics, infants, and geriatrics. Interdisciplinary support teams are available, including physical therapy and pharmacy. Compassionate care and effective communication skills are necessary for success in this role.
