Schenectady ARC has been providing services to developmentally
disabled adults since 1952 and is committed to helping people

The LPN's primary responsibility will administering medication,
including insulin and g-tubes at any of ARC residential homes
(rotating as needed). LPN Floater will keep a 2pm-9pm Schedule
including some weekend hours.(typical schedule is Tuesday -
Saturday or Sunday - Thursday) When there are no med pours the LPN
will assist with daily living skills and personal care at the
houses. Other duties may include:
* Observe and report to the RN any significant findings or changes
in the individual's mental or physical health that may be
indicative of a medical issue
* Maintain accurate medical records, including electronic medical
records.
* Communicate appropriate and pertinent information to residential
Manager and or other house team members
* Assist residents in the utilization of community resources and
social/recreational and educational planning.
* Responsible for attending all required staff meetings,
in-services and trainings (including First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive
Driving, CPR, vehicle certification) and all other in-services,
meetings and trainings as necessary.
* The LPN is expected to be at work during their scheduled hours
unless an absence has been approved. At no time may a shift be left
without adequate coverage for the program and the residents.
Schedules, and work sites are subject to change based on the needs
of the department or individuals, as well as RN case load
changes.
* Assist in maintaining a clean, neat household and assist in
routine house maintenance.
* Perform fire drills as requested. Provide assistance to all
residents in an emergency to preserve their safety.
* Develop a working knowledge of relevant OPWDD and SARC policies
and procedures.
* Develop and maintain the ability to work as an effective team
member and provide support necessary to ensure efficient household
operation.
* Attend all required meetings and in-service training
programs.
* Uphold the agency mission, vision, and philosophy statements at
all times.
* Ensure a safe working environment by following all safety
guidelines and reporting any hazards.
* To perform all other duties as assigned by the Residential
manager and supervising RN.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education and/or Experience)
* Shall be Licensed Practical Nurse and currently registered by the
New York State Department of Education in good standing.
* Experience working in a residential setting, serving people with
intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
* Ability to make sensible health care judgments and decisions as
well as coordinate resident's health care plans with minimal
supervision.
* Empathetic to the needs of individuals with developmental
disabilities.
* Must have a valid New York State Driver's License and reliable
transportation
