Job Description Description General Description:The core responsibility of the Sr. Product Manager is to maximize the margin performance of their portfolio of products across the relevant markets and applications tied to the company's Business Units. Key Performance Indicator: Material Margin (volume x unit material margin) Value Management and Pricing Excellence

  • Own value-based price guidance at the product level (including SKU-specific pricing where relevant) to the sales organization across related Strategic Business Units, enabled via the development of a competitive intelligence warehouse based on a variety of internal and external data sources. Own the aggregation of value equations tied to SBU-developed segmentation to maximize profit across the enterprise.
  • Develop and communicate target sales price band guidelines for each product line on global and regional level
  • Own the development and management of cost curves along with region-specific supply-related dynamics to identify competitiveness of SI Group asset base across the global market
  • Identify circumstances in which international competition may be selling below cost in countries in which we have production assets to enable assessment of trade-related complaints
  • Support SBU-led channel management efforts to identify and leverage new and higher value outlets for portfolio
  • Utilize tools developed by the Pricing Excellence function and relevant data to analyze margin curves, identify negative/positive deviations with corresponding potential opportunities / risks for margins. Initiate exchange on and assessment of those deviations, document and follow up on agreed actions. Product Portfolio Management and Footprint Optimization
    • Develop and manage portfolio of product and services in line with changing regulatory, market needs and/or internal factors (segmentation, gap closing, and phaseouts). Consolidate competitive information and provide direction to operations, supply chain, and R&D on priorities for improved offering, design and performance.
    • Responsible for product allocation across the enterprise during periods in which demand outstrips supply, cooperating with sales and supply chain as relevant
    • Manage product manufacturing decisions in cooperation with supply chain, SBU leadership and production sites and coordinate implementation across the enterprise. This includes the development of business cases and commercial leadership of projects to rationalize or invest in capacity.
    • Serve as gatekeeper for product quality, acting as interface between manufacturing and SBUs by approving specification and process change approvals
    • Ownership of product name and hierarchy in reporting and other internal systems
    • Approve the creation of new SKUs to support business requirements, weighing against associated supply chain complexity
    • In partnership with sales and the supply chain organization, engage in quarterly SKU reviews to set targets for sunset and execute against those targets to support working capital improvement Opportunity Planning
      • In tandem with relevant stakeholders, develop scenario modeling and business cases to assess the financial impact of ideas or specific strategic projects
      • Work with key functions in the development of new opportunities through the stage gate process to launch new products as driven by the business development function.
      • Leverage broad-based portfolio functionality knowledge to identify JV and M&A opportunities in conjunction with SBU leadership Qualifications Education and Experience
        • BS in Chemistry, Engineering or another technical field
        • Min. 7 years' increasing responsibility in an industrial setting with a proven track record in business operations or product management Specific Functional Competency Requirements
          • Ability to influence with and without direct authority
          • Ability to leverage global functional colleagues across the company to coordinate multiple complex workstreams; strong inter-cultural interpersonal skills
