Job Description A Business Area within this company, with numerous operating divisions stationed across the U.S., produces and sells a broad range of high performance, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical systems, sub-systems and components to the aerospace, defense, homeland security (protecting our soldier and guarding our borders), broadcast and film, and international markets. Duties include being able to: Implement the development, design, and analysis of creative, new products from concept through product verification and delivery, Translate customer requirements into verifiable system and sub-system performance requirements, Document designs in accordance with industry standards (ASME 14.5), Develop and execute qualification test plans according to industry standards (e.g. MIL-STD-810), and Create design error budgets and sensitivities. Key Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline and at least 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline and 0 to 2 years relevant experience. Skillful in finite element analysis (Ansys), CAD modeling (SolidCAD). Knowledge of Jitter and LOS modeling. Proficient mechanical analysis background including GD&T, static, dynamic, and thermal considerations. Understanding material selection in creating a thermalized, opto-mechnical system. Understanding in designing a stable optical system under a dynamic and thermal environment. Experience in conducting design trade studies and creating prototypes to validate concepts. Ability to work with Test and Manufacturing Engineers to troubleshoot issues. Preferred requirements: At least 3 years of experience in CAD design and drawing generation for complex assemblies, fixtures, and component (SolidWorks preferred). At least 5 years in complex optical designs with experience via hardware verification. Ability to produce high-precision, stable mechanisms under harsh operational environments. Knowledge of and loyalty to industry quality procedures and methods (e.g. ISO 9001). Experience directing, coordinating, manufacturing, or building of prototype products and/or systems. Experience leading problem solving and troubleshooting assignments for manufacturing and customer problem resolution. Support the development of technical proposals and select subsystems and components to meet requirements. Location Nashua, NH
