Job Description:
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of
Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced
naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to
ensure the safety and reliability of our nation's naval nuclear
reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in
the U.S. Navy's submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval
Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power
Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval
Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since
1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees
working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South
Carolina, and Idaho. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory also has an
established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations
around the globe. We are dedicated solely to the support of the
United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The Naval Nuclear
Laboratory is operated by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC, a wholly
own a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for an entry level Civil
Engineer to join the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Facility Projects
team in Niskayuna, NY! Our Facility Projects team works to support
repairs and renovation of existing facilities and infrastructure
located at our Knolls Laboratory. Typical projects for the team
include civil system replacements, facility renovations, and
underground piping repairs. Projects will range in construction
cost from $50K to $5M. As a Civil Engineer in this role, you'll
have the opportunity to engage as a design lead for civil
subcontracted efforts such as water mains, storm sewer, and
sanitary sewer, effectively team across multiple organizations to
ensure project functional requirements are met.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree in technical, engineering or science-related
field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge and experience with the design, operation, and
maintenance of civil infrastructure systems
Knowledge of performing civil engineering tasks throughout the
project life cycle including: development of function requirements,
specifications, calculations, and cost estimates
Knowledge of environmental regulations and their application with
respect to civil systems
Knowledge of design or repair for underground utility systems such
as water distribution, sewer, and storm water
Construction experience
Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to effectively fill the role
of civil technical lead
Excellent communication skills
